1. Read the passage through once.

2. Choose and/or write out a verse or two from your passage that “springs out” at you.

3. Re-read the section you have picked a few times and pray for the Lord to help you in understanding and applying this text to your life.

4. Write on your paper, “What does this text tell me about God?” Answer this question in writing with three short statements or ideas.

5.  Elaborate upon one of these statements/ideas by writing out a few personal reflections. Try to focus your thoughts around the passage before you.

6. Write on your paper, “What does this text tell me about man (about me)?”  Answer this question in writing with three short statements or ideas.

7. Repeat step number 5.

8. Finally, write out a prayer which involves any discoveries, insights and applications.
